Cataracts
Cataracta was the Latin word for a closing portcullis or a cascading waterfall. It is the #1 preventable cause of vision loss in the world. But there is great news, over 10,000 are fixed everyday in the US.
Cataracts is a natural part of out life progression, which to me, sounds better than getting old.
The fix for Cataracts is, luckely, straight forward and simple.
Everyone gets Cataracts, if you live long enough. Some get them early for different reasons, and some people are even born with them.

What we call Senile Cataracts are those we get with age. It is a clouding of the nature crystalline lens that is in the eye. The lens sits right behind the iris and is flexible. Though the cornea actually does most of the refracting, or focusing of light, the crystalline lens has a really cool feature - it bends. This flexibility is what allows us to change our focus from distance to near. As we age, usually in our early 40's, the process causes the lens to become hard and we start to lose the ability to control our focus, thus needing readers or bifocals. As the lens continues to age, it starts to change color. When the color changes enough that it effects our vision, we call it a cataract.
